Dani and I have known each other since we were children, although haven’t seen each other since we were children. (I think literally probably since 1989-ish) Dani is my beautiful cousin’s cousin from the other side, and I remember spending handfuls of time with her when we were kids, playing Barbies at my aunt and uncles house and even at the farm where I grew up.
Fast forward 20 years later and I get a message from her asking about wedding photography. Seeing how gorgeous/happy/successful she had become in the past 2 decades via Facebook, I was extremely excited she contacted me, and I knew we had to make this happen.
Words cannot describe how honored I am when someone I haven’t seen in over half my lifetime asks me to be their wedding photographer, and I have been lucky enough for it to happen to me kind of a lot. I pour my heart into each and every wedding I do, whether I know the couple or not, but something about knowing someone for so long makes it all the more special to me. It gives me a chance to see them again, and to see the person they have become.
Dani and Owen met through friends in Minneapolis. They both have a 6 year old child, they both love 80’s music (another common bond between us) and both love karaoke so much that instead of a standard DJ, they hired a Karaoke DJ! I’ve been known to dabble in a little karaoke in my day, so I definitely had to get up there and sing a song too!
Their wedding wasn’t just your ordinary evening, they did an entire weekend in Plymouth/Elkhart Wisconsin (super adorable little town) complete with their ceremony, a beach/volleyball party, and then karaoke the next night with a few more guests that couldn’t make it to the ceremony.
Dani and Owen – it was such a pleasure getting to know you guys over your weekend. (and getting to re-know you Dani!) When I move back to Minneapolis, let’s be friends.
Here are A LOT of highlights of their amazing weekend celebration!!!
Ella was so excited that she got to wear a bit of make-up 🙂
Getting ready photos were taken at the beautiful Osthoff Resort
They really like Guinness.
The next day they had an awesome party on the beach! I kind of want to move to this little town.
They had the coolest guest book ever. Owen is a musician/music producer for a living so it’s incredibly fitting.
A note for below: This has been the most amazing amount of Karaoke talent I have ever seen. Wait until you see some of their moves.
Dani totally grabbed my camera and took photos of me singing Outfield, haha!!!
My favorite part, is that they kept singing until the cops came. The cop totally “broke the party up” during REO Speedwagon’s “I’m going to keep on lovin’ you” haha.
